Say Hello To The Pentax K-S1 : K S1 Blue (1)

The Pentax K-S1 features an new and innovative design, featuring brand new indicator lamps on the body. Here, we take a look at the key features of this futuristic camera:

Indicator lamps

There LED powered lamps are used to display camera status, for example the lights shine green on stills mode, and red for video mode. They are also used as a count down mechanism in Face Detection, Remote Control and Self-timer modes. Lights are also used on the mode dial - the currently set mode will appear in green, while the OK button will be lit in blue when shutter release is available.

Anti-Aliasing Filter Simulator

This reduces moire that can occur due to tiny drive operations of the sensor. The low pass filterless design also maximises the resolution from the CMOS sensor. So, there are two benefits in one with this system.

New GUI (Graphical User Interface)

The K-S1 has a new system, allowing setting content for each function to be seen and understood with a short glance. around the d-pad is the settings wheel, allowing the user to quickly change modes with the camera in front of them.

Optical Viewfinder With Approx 100% Field Of View

The K-S1 uses the same glass prism finder as the Pentax high end DSLRs such as the K-3. This large, easy to use viewfinder makes composing and focusing shots easier allowing you to spend more time focussing on the subject.

ISO 51200

The K-S1 features a new CMOS image sensor and Prime M II image processor, giving a high sensitivity of ISO 51200. This enables the K-S1 to shoot in dark scenes that wouldn't be possible with previous cameras.

For more information on the K-S1, take a look at our detailed review and the Ricoh Imaging website.
