Kodak has announced a new model, the flagship Kodak PIXPRO AZ521 with 52x optical zoom lens, as part of the Astra Zoom Series, it also features a 16 megapixel CMOS sensor, 3inch screen and full HD video recording and has an RRP of £249.

We had a hands-on look at the new Kodak PIXPRO AZ521 - it has a wide angle 24mm equivalent f/2.9 lens, that zooms to 1248mm equivalent f/5.6 at the telephoto end with optical image stabilisation. Other features include HDR and panoramic shooting. The camera has manual controls, as well as scene modes to make it easy to use for beginers. The Kodak PixPro AZ521 should be available now with an RRP of £249, in Black from Argos and Tesco.

Video options include full HD, with stereo sound, and optical zoom. The camera also records high speed video in VGA resolution at 120fps. The lens will focus at 1cm in macro mode at the wide-angle end of the lens.

The camera is powered by a Lithium-Ion battery and has a battery life rating of 240 shots. Additional photos are available in the Equipment Database.

The New Adventures of the (Old Brand Name) Kodak.

x52 sounds impressive.
I suspect the viewfinder was eliminated to cut costs down.
I do not know why they had taken the (old) Panasonic's approach on its bridge models
to have a silver, rather than a black, ring around the edge of the lens,
it's not so stealthy in street photography this way.

Looking forward to see how it performs.
