Kodak Professional has unveiled plans for a nationwide summer road show targeting all image makers keen to develop business-building marketing and PR skills.
The new Work Smarter road show programme, hosted by Kodak working in association
with the MPA and the BIPP, will comprise six one day events from Belfast to
Bristol and will include seminars from three key speakers; two award-winning
photographers and a leading PR practitioner and media expert.
Kodak will also run demonstrations of its latest digital imaging products including
the much-vaunted Kodak Professional DCS Pro 14n digital camera and the 8500
digital photo printer.
Said KPro's marketing manager Clare Bruce: "The Work Smarter road show
is a brand new initiative and is the result of extensive planning with the MPA
and the BIPP.
We have carefully targeted six hotel venues in Coventry, Warrington, Bristol,
Belfast, Falkirk and Gatwick to ensure this programme will be accessible to
all UK photographers eager to learn new business-building skills and techniques."
She added: "All professional photographers are talented and naturally
creative - but in the photography business that's not enough. To be really efficient
and profitable in the 21st century they need to embrace new digital technology
and have a working knowledge of vital marketing and promotion techniques. They
need to know how to work smarter - and this unique road show will point the
Work Smarter is free of charge to all MPA/BIPP/PPANI members and will cost
£95 (including refreshments and lunch) for all other image makers wishing
to attend a full day programme of events.

Top freelance fashion photographer Chris Morris will cover marketing essentials
in his "How to do it Better" address.
He said: "Too many photographers today don't really understand what their
position is in the marketplace. They need to know where they are now, where
they need to be in the future and where the hierarchy is. There is a hierarchy
in every discipline. The big questions are; how do you get to the top, how difficult
is it and how long does it take?
Delegates at my seminar will get to hear about my own successful marketing campaigns
- but they will also get to hear about the hiccoughs along the way."
Aoibheann (pronounced Evanne) Hopkins, an award-winning portrait photographer
who swapped a successful career as an international marketing director to live
her dream and launch a photographic studio in a leafy Surrey village, will reveal
the secrets of her rapid rise in the portraiture business.
Aoibheann's seminar: "How to get started: making it all click" will
focus on her strategy for turning an ambition into a booming business.
Kevin Bentley, a former BBC journalist and now a director of a leading east
Anglian PR agency, will advise photographers how to use the media to gain free
In his address: "PR-Your Secret Weapon" Bentley outlines the basic
Do's' and Don'ts of the media relations world.
