Leica L-Mount Alliance Announced

At a Leica Camera AG press conference - Leica has announced the new L-Mount partnership, with Panasonic, and Sigma. All three companies will be involved in introducing cameras and lenses for the mount.

The L-mount is used on the Leica SL full-frame mirrorless camera, and Leica CL APS-C mirrorless cameras. This means that there are already a number of lenses available for the system, including Leica's new 35 f/2, and 50mm f/2 lenses.

A new website has been launched www.l-mount.com.

At a Leica press conference, at Photokina 2018, Leica set out details of the new partnership. Directly following on from this press event, Panasonic are holding a press event, where we expect more details will be released regarding Panasonic’s involvement in this joint venture.

There will also be a Sigma press event, and we will be reporting from the event, to give details of Sigma’s involvement in the venture.

Leica also announced the black version of the Leica SOFORT, and a new Leica photo app called “Leica Fotos” designed for use with all Leica cameras with Wi-Fi. Previously Leica had different apps for each specific camera. Leica are also introducing a silver version of the Leica CL.

Leica has announced the Leica S3 – a medium format DSLR with optical viewfinder. The camera has a new 64mp medium format sensor, 3fps continuous shooting, and 4K CINE video recording using the full-sensor size. The S3 will be available in Spring 2019.
