The Pocket Drive is a portable hard drive that can be connected and disconnected from you computer while the machine is still switched on. It offers an alternative way of freeing up hard drive space and is perfect for storing images and other large files.

The pocket in the name refers to the fact that this baby is only about twice the width of an average sized mobile phone and just the same height and width. It has a rubberised casing, making it robust and all leads detach so it can be carried in a coat pocket.

The unit connects to the computer using Firewire or USB systems on MAC or PC. If you are fortunate enough to have Firewire you dont need a power supply as the drive is powered from the computer through the Firewire cable. USB users have to connect the small voltage transformer, so allow for a spare mains socket near the computer.

Several versions are available all the same size case, but with either 10Gb, 20Gb or 30Gb of storage capacity.

The drive is supplied with SilverLining, Lacies disk mounting utility. This is also perfect for mounting and unmounting removable media drives such as Zip and MO. It can also be used to erase and reformat drives.

The Pocket Drive can be formatted so that it can be read on both PC and Mac platforms so its ideal if you need to transfer large files between the two. Its also useful when working from two locations, say home and work, where you can have one set of data stored on the drive and access it from either location.

Overall a very well thought out product that is fine for the person who either works from two locations or needs the extra space on the computer.
