Photograph Lambs With A Samsung Camera

At this time of year, lambs begin to appear in sheep fields across the country and they are a fantastic subject for you yo have a go at photographing with your Samsung kit. 

Whether you capture them with their mother, or frolicking in the spring fields, you're sure to create an idyllic easter themed scene. When you come across lambs in a field close to a footpath you're usually fine to photograph the animals from a distance so packing a telephoto lens to get some closer shots will help. Sometimes footpaths go directly through sheep fields but respect the animal's space the if they move away from you as you begin to photograph, they're probably out of their comfort zone so give them some space. 

With a bit of luck, the lambs will be running around the field playing and this gives you great opportunity for some action shots. Whether you freeze the frame with a fast shutter speed or create some motion blur in the legs by using a slightly slower one, it should be possible to capture jumping, running lambs without much of a problem.

Sheep  are social creatures and as such like to stay close together in the field. This can be great for capturing intimate moments between mothers and offspring but it often means there are other animals in the shot which can distract from the composition. It's best to zoom in to your subject as close as possible, or choose to photograph a couple of sheep that are away from the main crowd if you want a wider composition. 

If it's really sunny then contrast ca be an issue. Try shooting in the early morning or afternoon for more pleasing light. Cloudy or even rainy days can still yield good results, as colder days will cause the lambs to huddle to their mothers allowing for more chance of intimate shots. 

Try kneeling down to the lamb's level as then you'll not only be less intimidating but also have a nicer viewpoint, allowing you to get plenty of depth to the shot with foreground and background grass.
