Latest HIPA Photo Contest Winners announced

The Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA) has announced a total of five winners for the October edition of the monthly Instagram Photo Contest ‘Children’. HIPA received submissions under the hashtag #HIPAContest_Children, through the official HIPA Instagram account @HIPAae. From a total number of 2356 international submissions, the five winners hailed from four different countries; Indonesia, The Philippines, Saudi Arabia and Singapore and will receive their respective ‘HIPA Recognition Awards’ in the coming days. Commenting on the latest Instagram Photo Contest results, the Secretary General of HIPA His Excellency Ali bin Thalith said, “We congratulate the winners of the October edition of the Instagram Photo Contest who have touched on a special topic dear to many of us, children. Children are the seeds of our future and I believe the winning photographs in our October Instagram Photo Contest brought to light the beauty and optimism in the faces of children around the world. In the past, we have had some stunning photographs involving children win in HIPA, and felt it would be a great category to put forward for our Instagram followers.”

October Instagram Photo Contest Winner, Mario Cardenas (@mariobcardenas) whose stunning black and white photograph captured children playing in a Manila cemetery said, “I am extremely delighted for the win and thankful for every golden moment in my photography journey.” Cardenas, who has won several photo competitions online and on social media previously said, “Through photography, I aspire to travel to many places around the world and wish to document noteworthy events, unforgettable experiences and special moments through stunning photography. Hopefully one day, the collection I accumulate through the years will be published into a book.

Saudi street photographer Jassim Al Herz (@jassimherz) proclaimed that he named his winning photograph of a small girl in a field in Turuk, India as “The Girl of the Field”. Al Herz described how he had seen the girl helping her mother in a field and while on his way home he snapped the photograph. Al Herz, who is a first time winner in a photography competition, expressed his amazement upon finding out his photo had been selected as one of the winners and thanked HIPA for the accolade.

The theme for the November edition of the Instagram Photo Contest will be announced in the coming days on HIPA’s social media platforms.
