Leica M-E (Typ 240) Is An 'Entry-Level' Rangefinder Costing 3500

Leica has made the new M-E (Type 240) rangefinder camera slightly cheaper so those wanting to take their first step into the M family won't have to spend quite as much cash.

Leica has introduced an entry-level rangefinder called the Leica M-E which, at £3500, is reasonably priced for a Leica so could attract those who are wanting to own a Leica but can't quite afford the asking price of, say, a Leica M (Typ 240)

According to Leica, the Leica M-E (Type 240) only has the most essential camera functions and as a result, it 'offers streamlined intuitive operation'. It's also compatible with every M lens ever produced as it features the M bayonet mount.

Handcrafted in Germany, the compact camera body is dust/spray water resistant, features a leather trim and the top/base plates have been finished in an anthracite grey paint which has been developed especially for the M-E.

Inside the Leica M-E is a 24MP CMOS sensor with an ISO range up to 6400 and 2GB buffer memory. Other features include an integrated spirit level, a 3-inch Gorilla Glass monitor at 0.92 million pixels and a long-lasting battery.

Owners of the new Leica M-E are also able to capture 1080p, full-HD movies via a dedicated recording button and there's a mic built-in.

Pricing & Availability

The Leica M-E (Typ 240) is priced at £3500 and will begin shipping at the end of July 2019.
