Leica Lens

Leica has announced a new fast short telephoto lens, which looks set to be available around September 2014.

The Leica Summicron-S is a 100mm f/2 lens designed for portrait, glamour and available-light photography. It features 7 elements in 5 groups, including 3 with anomalous partial dispersion. The last lens element has been designed as a 'floating element', and it has a close-focus point of 70cm.

The lens is weather sealed against dust and splashing water, and is said to retail for around 6,500 Euros. Further information is yet to be announced.
