Lightroom CC Gets Better Auto Tools

The Auto tools in Lightroom CC have been reworked so you can produce better photos without too much effort. 

The improved auto setting analyses the photo you open up in Lightroom CC and compares it to professionally edited images so the AI in the software can apply the right settings to improve your shot. 

The new Auto system, which is powered by Adobe Sensei, is available in Lightroom CC, Lightroom CC for iOS, Lightroom CC for Android, Lightroom CC on the web, Lightroom Classic and Adobe Camera Raw (ACR).

As well as updating the Auto system in Lightroom, Adobe has added support for new cameras and lenses in Adobe Camera Raw (including those who have a perpetual license for Lightroom 6) and there have been a few tool updates in the desktop version of Lightroom CC as well as the Lightroom apps. 

Those who run Lightroom CC on their desktop can now use either the Parametric Curve or the Point Curve modes, found under Tone Curve, to tune the tonality and contrast of an image, and the Red, Green, and Blue modes to adjust the colour balance and stylise photos. Split Toning has also been added which allows users to add colour tints to highlights and shadows. 

For times when you forget to change your camera's time or time zone setting, you can now adjust the capture time for both single photos as well as a set of photos in Lightroom CC and you can also view photos in full-screen mode by pressing either the F key or by navigating to View-> Detail Full Screen.

In addition to the new Auto mode, those who use Lightroom CC on iOS can now create and customise a text-based watermark for use when exporting your image from Lightroom CC on iOS and general speed improvements, as well as bug fixes, have been applied. Thoe with Android devices will find new app shortcuts along with the new auto mode and several bug fixes. 

In Lightroom Classic, the Colour Range Masking tool has been improved so it's now easier to remove individual sample points and the software also now supports tethered capture with the Nikon D850 camera. The update for camera support will arrive on 19 December.
