Lightroom Mobile can now capture three DNG files and automatically merge them together to create RAW HDR photos.
| iOS Apps
The Adobe Lightroom Mobile app, for both Android and iOS users, now features RAW HRD capture so three DNG files can be captured and automatically merged to create one RAW HDR image.
The new HDR mode automatically scans the scene to determine the correct exposure range and when merging the three files, it aligns, merges, deghosts and tonemaps the shots to create a 32bit floating point DNG. The images are actually processed by the same algorithms as the HDR technology built into Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom to create one final shot that has all of the benefits of both an HDR and a RAW photo.
For iOS users, the HDR mode requires a device that can capture in DNG, such as an iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, iPhone 7, 7 Plus, iPhone SE, or iPad Pro 9.7". For Android users, at this point, only the Samsung S7, S7 Edge, Google Pixel and Pixel XL are supported.
In addition to the new RAW HDR capture mode, users can export original images, including DNGs captured in the camera as well as RAW files imported through Lightroom Mobile and Lightroom web, and gestures can now be used to rate and review photos. There's also a new Force Touch and Notification Centre widget, making it even easier and faster to launch Lightroom’s camera and 'Prevent From Sleep' now stops the screen from locking as long as the phone is plugged into power.
iOS users will also see stability and speed improvements as well as general UI tweaks and bug fixes. Those using Android will see bug fixes and speed improvements, plus the Radial and Linear Gradient tools, added to the iOS version last year, are now available.
These updates, version 2.7 for iOS and version 2.3 for Android are available now via the Adobe website.
