Lomography Daguerreotype Achromat 64mm f/2.9 Art Lens

Lomography has announced the new Daguerreotype Achromat 64mm f/2.9 Art lens using the optical design from 1839 by Daguerre and Chevalier. The lens is designed to offer crisp sharpness, silky soft focus, and control of depth of field with multiple bokeh effects. The lens will be available in black and brass finish and is designed to work with modern digital and analogue cameras, in both Nikon F and Canon EF mounts, with the option to use on other cameras, with the use of an adapter. 

Designed to give an "alluring veil of light", and a "glazy, soft picture at wide apertures", Lomography believe in keeping the magic in photography alive with this dreamy, ethereal aesthetic. The lens is said to give crisp sharp shots from f/5.6 onwards. The lens uses the classic Waterhouse aperture plates, as seen in the Petzval lenses, and is being introduced with two entirely new sets of plates - the Lumiere aperture plates give a radiant, soft glow, plus Aquarelle aperture plates are designed to produce a textured painterly effect.
