Microtek have launched the ScanMaker 4900, a new 2400 x 4800 dpi, 48-bit desktop scanner.
"The
new Microtek Sigma Six CCD technology features a true optical resolution of
2400 x 4800 dpi for scanning intricate details without any compromise,"
said Kevin Lamb, UK Sales and Marketing Manager. "I believe that the ScanMaker
4900 is the best in its class and delivers amazing performance for the price."
Features and Benefits:
New Edge Design.
ScanMaker 4900 is one of the slimmest scanners in the world; around 60mm, with
a stylish and streamlined design. Microtek took the high-quality CCD technology
and using EDGE design made it smaller, giving more desk space and keeping the
image quality you need.
New Sigma-6 CCD.
The ScanMaker 4900 has six rows of CCD sensors for improved colour reproduction.
There are twice as many sensors as a conventional tri-linear array for more
accurate data capture.
True 48-bit Colour and 2400 x 4800 dpi.
To address the users' demand on the quality of image, ScanMaker 4900 features
a true optical resolution of 2400 x 4800 dpi by using the Sigma SixTM CCD (Charge
Coupled Device) technology to scan intricate details with high accuracy and
without compromise. With its built-in 16-bit ADC (Analog to Digital Converter),
the scanner can convert originals into digital data with high fidelity. Incorporated
with Microtek's DCR (Dynamic Color Rendition) technology, ScanMaker 4900 delivers
realistic images that are hard to duplicate by other contemporary technologies.
7 Smart Touch Buttons.
ScanMaker 4900 incorporates seven Smart-touch buttons allowing Scanning, Copying,
and Emailing, PDF/OCR, Scan-to-Web, Setup/Cancel and Custom functions. The Smart-Touch
Copy and OCR buttons make high-quality colour copies. Images can be uploaded
to photo sharing sites where they can be shared with friends and family. Unwanted
scans can be cancelled whilst the scanner is running.
Easy Setup and Use.
The ScanMaker 4900 comes with the industry-standard USB port that can be easily
found on PCs or Macs on the market today. There are no interface cards to install
on the scanner, and the true "plug-and-play" feature associated with
the USB interface removes the usual hassles typical of some installation processes.
Works with Windows 98, 2000, Me, XP; Apple iMac, new G3 and G4 USB, and OS 9.0~9.x, OS X ( available November)
Powerful Software Offering.
Microtek's ScanWizard 5 is a versatile scanning tool that allows users to choose
between Standard and Advanced controls to suit their level of expertise and
experience in the use of scanners. ScanWizard 5 features a batch scan process
that allows users to scan and save images in sets or batches to increase productivity.

retrieve them for editing. And to meet the huge demand for photo sharing, ScanWizard
5 provides the easiest way for users to post their images on the web and share
them with their friends.
The ScanMaker 4900 is also packed with valuable practical software to help users in a variety of tasks and projects. It comes bundled with a full application of Adobe PhotoDeluxe 4.0 for PC, Adobe PhotoShop LE image-editing software, and Abby FineReader OCR software, which allows you to convert scanned text to editable text with 99% accuracy.
