From an interview with ePHOTOzines Ian Andrews today, Derek Poulston, the Sales Director of the new Colab Imaging Ltd, which has emerged from the ashes of the old Colab Group, gave us the following statement.

Their clear objective: - to turn Colab Ltd into the most modern Professional Imaging production facility in the UK!

Determined to build upon 37 years of professional photographic history Colab will now be the beneficiary of major investment in technology and training. In turn this development will benefit their customers with a more efficient, even better quality service than before.

With a newly motivated team of sales staff, technicians and management they are all up for the challenge to create a photographic service that is fit for the 21st Century.

Colab Imaging Ltd has pledged to offer: -

Superb quality
Reduced delivery times
Technical support
Cost effective pricing

To achieve this we have streamlined many of our services to integrate with our very own Cdi software, which is our digital workflow throughout our production facility. This will give even greater efficiency, guaranteed colour management throughout.

Our In house IT team will be available to help photographers making the transition to digital photography and we will soon operate a specific Help Line which will be available to all professionals.

Colabs brand new Schools Division is set to challenge the well-known historical Schools laboratories by offering a fast and modern service. Derek Poulston sales Director said, The Schools photography market has been a very staid and traditional one. Many photographers today are offering identical packs to those that my parents received twenty years ago. This includes the same old sizes with the same old mounts and delivered in the same old way sometimes up to six weeks from the original shoot. We are offering photographers a large range of Collections each with a multitude of packs to sell. These can include regular gift items such as mugs, mouse mats and key rings but also available are calendars, canvas bonded prints and framed prints.

Other benefits for the independent Schools photographers are having personalised proof cards, fully colour corrected print service, image store facility where the original image is stored on Colabs server reducing delivery times for re-orders. This is all offered at a competitive pricing structure and extremely quick delivery times.

Colab firmly believes they have an excellent product when it comes to printing from digital files. Their unique software Crystalpixpro designed in-house is very easy to use and can save photographers many hours behind their computers. It automatically sizes the photographers images, it creates its own order forms, it allows the photographer to opt for Colab to colour correct their images free of charge. It also has a huge range of print sizes from 5 to 50. The customer then has a choice of burning the encrypted order to CD or sending the order over the Internet.

Poulston commented It really does save the digital Pro many hours. In a sense its like going back to when our customers were shooting negs and we handled all of the colour grading and final print quality
With a new upgrade planned for this coming season Crystalpixpro is set to make even bigger waves in the future.

Keen enthusiasts are not left out either. Photobynet is a cost effective way of getting true photographic prints from digital files for literally pence. The software is user friendly and has many fun tools including editing suites and album creation facilities.
Most orders are back with their owners within 48 hours.
