A series of images which focuses on the detail of a pole vault and showcases this difficult sport in a very artistic way has won the overall title in the first-ever Minimalist Photography Awards.
More than 3400 photographs from 57 different countries have been submitted but German photographer, Klaus Lenzen, won the title of 'Minimalist Photographer of the Year' and the $1000 prize.
"This highly aesthetical sport deserves to be portrayed in an artistic way," says Klaus. "I've done this in a minimalist way to stimulate the viewer's imagination."
The first edition of the Minimalist Photography Awards included 12 categories with photographers submitting entries under 'Abstract', 'Long Exposure' and 'Portrait' to name just a few of the themes.
