Minolta continue to increase the stakes in the AF SLR field by introducing the tiniest model yet. The Dynax 5 is also claimed to have the World's fastest AF speed too. These are pretty impressive claims for a camera that weighs just 335g.
You would expect the camera to be light on features to but that's not the case. This model has a 7 point wide area AF system, a full range of exposure modes and an impressive 14 segment metering. Other features include exposure compensation, bracketing and a multiple exposure feature. It also has Minolta's eye-control focusing that activates as you put your eye to the finder.
Some users of lower priced SLRs have criticised plastic lens mounts and, amazingly, the Minolta has managed to include a metal mount.
There's also a built-in flash with a guide number of 12 (ISO100/M) giving a range of up to 5m with a 50mm lens, predictive autofocus and a range of custom functions.
Creative users will also find the depth-of-field preview, spot meter and AE lock useful for extra control.
