A silhouetted image of Dunstanburgh castle at sunrise has been awarded the Photo of the Week accolade. Find out why we chose the image here.
| ePHOTOzineAn atmospheric image of Dunstanburgh castle in silhouette above a field of boulders has been awarded the POTW accolade this week.
The image, titled 'Dunstanburgh Moods' by ePz member jeronius was chosen by the team and here's why we thought it deserved to win the accolade this week:
This is a different take on the often photographed Dunstanburgh castle. Silhouetted in the background, it looks very grand and foreboding. The bright orange and reds of the sunrise add a burst of colour on the horizon that really makes the distant hill and castle pop.
Despite the spectacular sunrise and castle, it is the foreground that really makes this capture special. The slow shutter speed used has smoothed out the water lapping around their base, giving an other-worldly fog-like effect. The low angle used to shoot the image really leads the eye up and through the landscape to the castle, so you take in the undulating shapes as you go. A really nice capture.
Photo of the Week winners currently receive a 64GB EVO MicroSDXC card courtesy of Samsung. To see all the winners of the accolade, take a look at the POTW gallery.
