National Geographic have released a list of what they believe to be the best photos of 2016.
Curated from 91 photographers, 107 stories and 2,290,225 photographs, the list features everything from an awesome capture of a lightning storm in Nebraska turning the sky purple to a mesmerising portrait of a 16-year-old giant panda in China. A photograph of an Orangutan captured at dizzying heights by Tim Laman is also featured in the 52-strong list and you may recognise the image as it recently won the Wildlife Photographer Of The Year 2016 title.
The full list of images can be viewed now on the National Geographic website.
TIME also recently released their 100 best images of 2016 and what they believe to be the most influential photographs of all time.
