Canon has today unveiled the imagePROGRAF PRO-1000, a new professional grade photo printer that is the first in a new series of professional grade printers from Canon.

It features a 12-ink pigment based system, as well as a new 1.28" print head and processing engine and can produce prints, up to A2, in approximately six minutes. A new ‘Crystal-fidelity’ feature ensures photos taken with Canon EOS cameras can be faithfully reproduced while wireless and cloud connectivity means users can print from a variety of devices and apps.

A new series of LUCIA PRO inks include a Photo Black, Matt Black, Grey and Photo Grey, together with a specialist Chroma Optimizer ink, ensure monochrome prints with increased black density and uniform glossiness are produced, plus the imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 also helps users achieve prints with smooth gradations, suppressed graininess and an anti-bronzing effect.

Incorporating a new L-COA PRO Image Processing System, the imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 ensures the correct balance and mixture of inks, with precise ink droplet placement. The printer also accepts 1200ppi high-resolution image data which produces smooth, fine lines on prints.

17 types of Canon approved ICC profile papers can be selected from and the printer features A2 cut sheet support. Canon's Print Studio Pro plug-in can also be used to print quickly from a range of advanced editing software suites, such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

The new imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 will be available from February 2016.

Also announced this month were two new additions to the G-Series range and a new CSC camera called the EOS M10

Professional, high-quality printing

Employing a unique 12-ink pigment based system the imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 delivers exceptional quality prints with an expanded colour gamut. A new series of LUCIA PRO inks include a Photo Black, Matt Black, Grey and Photo Grey, and together with a specialist Chroma Optimizer ink, ensure professional quality monochrome prints with increased black density and uniform glossiness. The imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 also helps users achieve prints with smooth gradations, suppressed graininess and an anti-bronzing effect.

Incorporating a new L-COA PRO Image Processing System, the imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 ensures the correct balance and mixture of inks, with precise ink droplet placement, to achieve optimum quality photos at a professional grade. To enhance quality even further, the printer also accepts 1200ppi high-resolution image data, a result of the increasing number of pixels of digital cameras in the market today. The added feature produces smooth, fine lines on prints.

With the ability to select from 17 types of Canon approved ICC profile paper, including glossy, semi-glossy and matte, the new printer gives users the freedom to select the specific paper to meet their artistic needs. Good to see that at last there is competition for Epson's 17' P800 which doesn't seem to be a big improvement on the 3880

Look forward to your test..............
