PENTAX Sport Optics

Ricoh has announced a complete new line-up of binoculars, each with new features and coating technology. These new and improved technologies include:

  • Fully multi-coated optics to maximise the amount of light passing through a lens, thereby preventing flare and ghosting.
  • Optimised film deposition technology on lens and prism surfaces to increase light transmission.
  • To increase the durability of the Z- and S-series Water Proof binoculars*, Pentax has added a protective, nano technology coating that helps deflect water, oil, dust and dirt.

The new range is dived into four categories: Z-series, S-series, A-series and U-series.

Z-series

This is the flagship series and feature Full Multi-Coating and a new Enhanced Light Transmission Coating. The Z-series also repeals water thanks to the hydrophobic protective coating.

S-series

This series consists of both roof and porro prism models with objective lenses. In addition to the newly developed coatings applied on all roof prism models, the higher-end porro prism models in this series also feature a protective coating.

A-series

This series is the more  compact, portable and durable smaller brother of the S-series which consists of  roof and porro prism models with objective lenses.

U-series

These compact, inverted porro-prism models feature a durable dual-axis, single body design with synchronised IPD adjustment and full multi-coating for better light transmission.

Other optical technology featured on the new range includes:

  • BaK4 prisms - Highly acclaimed for its perfectly round exit pupil and unvignetted image
  • Phase Correction - A phase-correction coating is applied in the full range of roof prism binoculars to maximise image viewing quality.
  • Long Eye relief - The long eye relief offered in all PENTAX Sport Optics allows the viewer to see the entire field of view more clearly. This is especially beneficial to eyeglass wearers, and allows viewing for extended periods of time without added eye strain.
