Nikon has introduced 2 new teleconverters that extend the reach of compatible Z series lenses from 40-100%.
| Nikon Z7 in Lenses and Optical Items
The Nikon Z Teleconverter TC-1.4x and the Nikon Z Teleconverter TC-2.0x have been announced and when used with compatible Nikkor Z lenses, users will be able to double their reach with the 2.0x teleconverter and add 40% more reach with the 1.4x teleconverter.
The first lens to be compatible with these teleconverters is the Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S and as the Nikkor Z lens line-up expands, more lenses will be compatible with the Z Teleconverters enabling users to turn a telephoto zoom lens into a super-telephoto or extend the reach of a prime lens.
Both teleconverters are sealed to keep dust/moisture out and feature Nikon's fluorine coating to reply dust and dirt. They're also constructed from anodised aluminium and thanks to Nikon's advanced optical design, both teleconverters produce sharp, high-resolution images where the minimum focus distance of the lens remains unchanged.
Pricing & Availability
Both teleconverters will be available from late summer 2020 with the Z Teleconverter TC-1.4x costing £549 and the Z Teleconverter TC-2.0x priced a little higher at £599.
New Nikon Z 5, New Lens & Firmware Update
As well as new teleconverters, Nikon has also introduced the new Nikon Z 5 camera and a new 24-50mm lens. Plus, there's firmware update news for the Z series as well as new software that turns cameras into webcams.
