Sigma has announced a new range of 7 interchangeable lenses for Sony Full Frame E-Mount cameras as well as 2 new Art optics and a firmware update for Canon fit lenses at CP+.

The Sigma 105mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lens will have a suggested retail price of £1499.99 including VAT. Sigma, Canon and Nikon mounts will be available in June 2018 and the Sony FE mount is TBA.

Earlier this month, Sigma also announced a new 14-24mm Art lens

7 new Sigma Full Frame lenses for Sony E-Mount

Sigma will gradually introduce the lenses as members of the Art line, which offers photographers the highest level of optical performance.

While offering the same high-performance optical design as other lenses in the Art line, the new Sony E-mount models will feature a newly developed control algorithm that optimises the autofocus drive and maximises the data transmission speed. In addition, these lenses will be compatible with Sony’s Continuous AF (AF-C) and high-speed autofocus, which are not addressed by SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11. Like the converter MC-11, the lenses will be compatible with in-camera image stabilisation and in-camera lens aberration correction, which includes corrections for peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, and distortion.

The lineup will include the Art line set of seven prime lenses covering 14mm to 135mm.

105mm

New 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art

The longest focal length in the Art range's f/1.4 lenses, Sigma have dubbed this lens the 'Bokeh master'.

In order to combine outstanding wide-aperture, mid-telephoto performance with F1.4 brightness at maximum aperture, this lens incorporates 17 optical elements in 12 groups—an uncommonly large number of elements for a prime lens.

With its large filter diameter of 105mm, the SIGMA 105mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art delivers a significantly greater volume of peripheral light than other lenses in its class. Minimizing vignetting while offering a beautiful bokeh effect, this lens is ideal for portrait photography.

The lens is dust and splash proof. No pricing or release dates have been announced as yet.

70mm macro

New 70mm f/2.8 DG macro Art

The first macro lens in the Art line, and long-awaited by Sigma fans, this lens prioritses optical performance over autofocus speed.

In the standard to mid-telephoto range, it delivers stunning resolution and incredible clarity that greatly exceed expectations for a macro lens. The coreless DC motor further enhances image quality, while an optimised algorithm helps offer extremely smooth autofocus performance for a weightier, high-performance lens.

The focus-by-wire system eliminates the direct mechanical connection between the focus ring and the focus drive system. Controlled by SIGMA’s latest algorithm, a newly developed coreless DC motor adjusts focus with optimal speed and low noise. Full-time manual focus is available even during autofocus, allowing the photographer to make minute focus adjustments simply by turning the focus ring.

The lens has a dust and splash proof design and pricing and availability is yet to be announced.

Firmware update for Canon cameras with lens aberration correction

The three types of corrective functions available are for peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, and distortion.

By updating their lens firmware to version 2.00, customers with compatible SGV interchangeable lenses for Canon cameras can perform aberration corrections that match the optical characteristics of their lenses. In addition, by turning Lens Aberration Correction on and before taking photographs, users can prevent certain image and operation errors from occurring.

Canon Lens Aberration Correction is available with the following combination of SIGMA interchangeable Canon mount lenses and Canon cameras.
