Konica are adding to their Centuria range of films with the
launch of a new slide film. Konica Chrome Centuria promises a new level of image
quality with superb colour reproduction across the spectrum - from primary to
hard-to-capture intermediate colours. Rich and smooth gradations from highlights
through shadows allow realistic reproduction of nuances of texture, bringing
images to life.
The new film will be available in a choice of speeds: ISO100,
and, for the first time from Konica, in ISO200. Both films come in 24 and 36
exposure lengths. The 200 version is available immediately, with Centuria Chrome
100 phased in later in the year.
With colour reproduction in reversal films
being decided by the performance of the couplers, Konica have developed a new
yellow couple to give a realistic depiction of lemon colour - a colour which has
traditionally been difficult to reproduce accurately. At the same time, the
number of molecules has been reduced and the volume of oil in the coating cut
back to make the coating thinner to deliver improved image sharpness.
have also developed Precisely Divided Function (PDF) Crystal technology for
dramatic gains in photosensitive efficiency and depiction of highlights. The
development control layer of the crystals also minimised variation in the colour
balance during processing.
The introduction of Konica Centuria Chrome 100 and
200 means that all colour film manufactured by Konica for the amateur market
will be under the Centuria banner for better customer recognition.
