Nikon introduces two new robust cameras that are designed for the outdoors.

The Nikon Coolpix AW110 features a  16-megapixel back illuminated CMOS sensor, Nikkor wide-angle 5x zoom lens and a 7.5-cm (3-in) 614k-dot OLED monitor. It features a tough body that's dustproof, waterproof to depths of 18m, shockproof from heights of up to 2m and freeze-proof for temperatures down to -10°C. The camera's Action Control feature means you can adjust camera settings by swinging the camera from side to side, so that operation is easy even when underwater or wearing thick gloves.

The compact shoots full HD (1080p) movies and comes with built-in Wi-Fi which transfers pictures and videos directly to a smart device. GPS enables geotagging of images and an electronic compass and a world map help you to orientate yourself and plot a route. An altimeter records the exact altitude at which you take a shot (range: -300 m to 4,500 m) and a hydro-barometer measures underwater depth (range: 0 to -20 m).

High ISO (up to 3200) light sensitivity reduces the risk of blurred images with fast-moving subjects or in low light, while Best Shot Selector (BSS) automatically selects the sharpest of up to 10 sequential shots.

The Nikon Coolpix AW110 comes in camouflage, blue, black and orange. It will be available from 21 February with an RRP of £329.99.

The 10-megapixel Nikon Coolpix S31 is designed with the whole family in-mind. It features large buttons, clear menus, a NIKKOR 3x optical zoom lens, 6.7-cm (2.7-in) LCD screen, HD video recording, fun in-camera filters and automatic anti-blur technology. The S31 is waterproof down to a depth of 5 metres, shockproof from up to 1.2 metres and dustproof.

A symmetric body design ensures the S31 is easy to handle and fits comfortably in any hands. The flash is in the centre, while large, dedicated one-touch buttons for taking a photo or filming a crisp 720p movie are on either side of the camera, to avoid little fingers getting in the way of a great shot. Clear menus with bold, colourful icons make it simple to navigate through functions, even for children.

The Nikon Coolpix S31 comes in  yellow, pink, blue, and white with an RRP of £99.99. It will be available from 21 February.
