The Nikon COOLPIX P7800 – Casting a new light on quality

Designed for enthusiasts determined to get the best from their camera, the powerful P7800 matches stunning image quality and manual control with the portability of a compact COOLPIX body. Versatile and extremely responsive for stress-free shooting, the COOLPIX P7800 features a bright, high resolution 7.1x zoom NIKKOR lens with 2 ED glass and 7 blade iris aperture for better background blur and super crisp focusing. Perfect for professions that require a high quality portable camera like architects or those working in real estate, the P7800 is equipped to impress.

At 12 megapixels, the large illuminated CMOS sensor coupled with a built-in electronic viewfinder and clear 3” RGBW LCD vari-angle display puts you in total control of your photography, wherever your adventures take you. The ultimate on-the-go camera with rapid performance, quick start-up time and pin sharp autofocus with second generation Vibration Reduction, the P7800 is capable of continuous shooting up to 8fps and ideal for decisive photographers who might not have their DSLR to hand. RAW compatibility (NRW) means you’ll always get the best out of the sensor, no matter what your image requirements.

P7800 LCD 3

When switching to video, the P7800’s 3” vari-angle monitor really comes into its own allowing users to document a scene from the tightest of angles, or hold the camera at arm’s length and capture a video diary, or self-portrait. Full HD 1080p (25 or 30fps) video resolution with built-in stereo microphone (and external microphone input) place adaptability at the heart of this powerful COOLPIX companion. With Custom Movie mode you can even set the shutter speed, aperture, ISO setting, picture control, manual focus, optical zoom and white balance for creative control. To take full advantage of the camera’s potential; the P7800 is compatible with a full set of accessories including the WU-1a wireless adapter to share images in an instant, or remotely control the camera with a smartphone.

James Loader, Senior Product Manager for Consumer Products at Nikon UK, comments: “With its lightning quick responsiveness and bright, high resolution NIKKOR lens, the COOLPIX P7800 is a great choice for photographers seeking control and convenience without sacrificing on image quality”

He adds: “This class leading COOLPIX camera has been designed with the photographer in mind; with features such as the practical vari-angle screen and built-in electronic viewfinder to get the absolute best results in your videography and well as point-and-shoot photography. The manual controls incorporating three user modes, two function buttons and two command dials (rear and front) make it a truly special blend of performance and versatility.”

If Sony & Fuji can produce 2.4mgdot EVF's then everything else is well below par !!...even my
Panasonic G1 from 2008 has a 1.4mgdot EVF, which is great to use, but pales into the background
once you've looked into a Sony/Fuji version !!....'advanced compact' in name only !!....come on
Nikon you can do better than this !!....& open that lens out to 24mm (equiv) at the wide end !!

This camera is designed to compete with the latest in Canon's G series, not interchangeable-lens CSCs, so that's why the EVF may seem inferior.
