NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.8 S

The Nikon Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.8 S portrait lens has officially been announced and it has an RRP of £799.

First seen at The Photography Show 2019, the Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.8 S for the Nikon Z6 and Nikon Z7 full-frame mirrorless cameras, also appeared on the Nikon Z Series Lens road map which shows 6 lens releases for 2019 and a further 3 to arrive in 2020.

The Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.8 S is a perfect portrait lens with Nikon promising natural-looking bokeh and lens flare that is 'effectively countered even in back-lit situations.'

Nikon also says focusing is fast and thanks to the new Eye-Detection feature of the Nikon Z cameras, you can lock onto a subject’s eye quickly and with ease.

Movie shooters can utilise the 85mm focal length to isolate subjects and shoot video footage with a shallow depth of field, too.

Robert Harmon, Senior Commercial Planning Manager, Nikon UK, says: "The Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.8 is an incredibly versatile lens. With its fast multi-focusing system and large maximum aperture, you don’t need to worry about challenging light or unexpected opportunities. Whether you’re shooting at an event, in the studio or out in the open, you’re free to capture vibrant portraits that are anything but ordinary."
