| Nikon Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR in Interchangeable LensesIf you haven't read our full Nikon Z50 review but want to see what this lens is capable of then have a look at these images. If you have seen the review, then you'll find some additional images here, plus more information on the lens.
The Nikon Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR lens features optical Vibration Reduction (VR), Nikon's name for Optical Image Stabilisation, this is particularly useful, as the Z50 doesn't feature in-body image stabilisation. The lens is an extending/collapsible lens, meaning when it's not in use it can be compacted down to be as small as possible. When extended it's not much larger and gives an equivalent to 24 to 75mm in 35mm equivalent terms.
The lens has a plastic mount and has a 46mm filter thread on the front. You can use the lens on a Nikon Z6 or Nikon Z7, although this will be using the APS-C crop, so the image output resolution will be reduced, with 10mp images from the Z6, and 20mp images from the Z7.
Nikon Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR Other sample images
We tried to induce lens flare by taking a number of shots shooting with the sun in the frame and failed to produce anything particularly noticeable, apart from a few small spots. We were impressed by the sharpness on offer, particularly at the wide end of the lens. At the telephoto end of the lens, images are a little softer, but the lens still gives good results.

Quote:They don't come much more compact ??....with impressive IQ !!.....nice one Nikon !!.
They do! Pentax Q series comes to mind
Yes, I know, discontinued, lol.
But frankly compared to my Panasonic bridge camera, Z50 felt small enough to compete with Ricoh GR, lol
