Earlier this year, we covered Nikon's 'In Pursuit of Light' project, where ambassadors from across the globe were asked to showcase what natural light meant to them, producing some stunning images. 

We also chatted to George Turner, a British photographer featured in the project about his lovely wildlife photos.

Now Nikon have turned their attention to wedding photography, in a new project looking at how natural light can be used to create powerful and unique wedding images. Photographers from across Europe have together to demonstrate how light is an essential ingredient for wedding photography.

The photographers were assigned 3 different lighting challenges - capturing the fleeting emotions of the day, showcasing the golden hour's rays and experimenting with light and shade.

The resulting image series spans the fairy tale lights of Palm Springs to the moody depths of the Scottish Highlands – all using the Z series’ wide diameter mount to experiment with light in a number of different scenarios and capture the intimate connections between couples.

German sister duo Tali and Claudia (known as Tali photography) balanced a high-fashion eye with a natural celebration of love. Putting the Z 6’s silent shutter to the test, the photographers were able to get close to the emotional moments without distracting, while the ISO range of 100-51,200 meant there were no problems using the setting sun to frame the couple and the bride’s stunning dress.

A second photography double act, this time consisting of husband and wife Dylan and Joanna – known as The Kitcheners – paired the Z 6’s imaging power with the sharp NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S lens to experiment with the light and shade of the natural surroundings.

The Kitcheners comment:

"With the incredible IBIS (in-built image stabilisation) allowing photos to be captured at a lower shutter speed than ever before and the ultra-fast shutter speed of 1/8000, the Nikon Z 6 is ideal in every outdoor situation from bright midday sun to after dusk."

With the FTZ adapter, the couple was also able to use their favourite F-mount lens, the NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G, on the mirrorless body.
