The Nikon 1 AW1 waterproof camera is unique. Not because it's waterproof, but because it's currently the only self contained waterproof and shockproof mirrorless CSC camera on the market at the moment.
The 1 AW1 is waterproof to 49 feet, meaning you can take it with you into the sea with no housing and shoot all the beautiful marine life without worrying about configuring housing.
Currently, there are two waterproof lenses available for the 1 AW1, an 11-27.5mm zoom and a 10mm wide angle, which are available to buy separately. The camera is also shockproof to 6.6 feet, giving you extra piece of mind when using it in extreme conditions.
The camera features several underwater controls. When in underwater mode, users can choose from 3 options, standard, scuba and close-up, which automatically adjust the camera's settings to deliver optimal results no matter what underwater activity you are participating in.
There is also an underwater white balance setting, allowing you to adjust the white balance so images look natural underwater really easily, and an underwater distortion control, which corrects the effects of distortion caused by water.
