Nikon has released free to download software that will allow an even wider range of Nikon cameras to be used as webcams, something we may all need as the UK goes back into lockdown.

The list of Nikon mirrorless and DSLR cameras that can now be used as a webcam has increased thanks to Nikon's Webcam software now being compatible with a wider range of Nikon cameras.

The software is now compatible with macOS as well as Windows, is free of charge and available now.

By simply installing the software to a computer and connecting the camera via a USB cable, Nikon owners can use their camera as a high-quality webcam with software like Skype, Zoom, and other streaming software. This should give improved image quality and is a great option if you can't find a webcam, without the need for a capture card.

The compatible camera list now includes: Z 7II, Z 7, Z 6II, Z 6, Z 5, Z 50, D6, D5, D850, D810, D780, D750, D500, D7500, D7200, D5600, D5500, D5300 and the D3500. Compatibility with this new software application is also planned for future Nikon mirrorless and digital SLR cameras.

Further details are available on the Nikon Download Center.

Other manufacturers have also released webcam software for their cameras, including FujifilmOlympusCanon, and Panasonic.
