With the Nokia 9 PureView, 5 cameras simultaneously capture the image and fuse it together to create one 12MP photo. Plus, you can also shoot in RAW 'DNG' format.
| Nokia 9 PureView in Camera PhonesNokia has joined the smartphone camera race by adding 5 cameras to the back of its new Nokia 9 PureView.
Featuring Zeiss optics, the Nokia 9 PureView takes 5 images at the same time which are then merged together to create a 12MP photo. Two of the cameras feature colour sensors while the remaining three are monochrome, similar to the Huawei P20 Pro (just on a larger scale), which Nokia says should increase sharpness/detail. The company also says that all of the cameras work together to collect up to 10-times the amount of light than a single colour sensor of the same type.
It would have been cool if the lenses offered different focal lengths but we'll have to see what difference 5 lenses makes to image quality when we put the Nokia 9 PureView smartphone through a full review.
Every image captured by Nokia 9 PureView is HDR, with up to 12.4 stops of dynamic range and as depth mapping is used to create bokeh, users can adjust focus in Google Photos after taking a shot.
On the front is a 20MP selfie camera but the device only outputs 5MP images.
Nokia 9 PureView Camera Specs:
- Rear Cameras: 2 RGB sensors - 12MP, AF, f/1.8 & 3 Mono Sensors - 12MP, AF, f/1.8
- Front Camera: 20MP (5MP image output)
The Nokia Pro Camera user interface has had a rework and thanks to Nokia's partnership with Adobe, Adobe Lightroom is built into the Nokia 9 PureView where you can edit the uncompressed RAW 'DNG' files captured with the smartphone.
Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is found front and back so wireless charging is possible, there's a 5.99-inch 2K pOLED screen where a fingerprint sensor is built in and a 3320mAh battery powers the device.
