Depositphotos launched a new series of photo collections to battle stock photo cliches. The company’s content curators repurpose stock photos and compile collections on a weekly basis to illustrate that stocks can also be, well, not so stocky

Stock photography cliches are a widespread phenomenon on microstock platforms. You see them used in blogs, websites, presentations, and sometimes even large scale ads in print. The battle to show a different side of stock photography has come and current visual trends support the claim.

The association of stocks and cliches is strong because images from a decade ago still circulate microstock libraries. Turns out that stock photography libraries are full of quality content in line with trends. The key is to be proficient in all the advanced search tools, and know all the right resources to turn to if you’re looking for something specific.

In 2019, clients and photographers prioritize the mood and feeling in shots and pay less attention to technically correct shots. Stock photo cliches have one look and feel, and an outdated aesthetic, whereas today the images are much more versatile and authentic. It is unique perspectives and real-life imagery that define the market today, by representing different cultures and diverse themes.

Depositphotos content curators also recently made creative collages made solely of stock photos to illustrate the versatility of some of the most simple and not so eye-catching images we might deem boring.

Stock photography platforms are undoubtedly versatile. Throw out your presumptions about stocks being solely for cliches. This type of content is getting quickly replaced by authentic visuals that include an artistic, creative touch, as well as images that are authentic and in line with the standards of international clients.
