"All the wildlife photographers I know well are really excited about this lens. It hits a sweet spot and for travelling light it's perfect" Claire Voyle, Olympus UK Marketing Product Specialist

At around half the size and weight of other interchangeable lens systems, Olympus’ biggest advantage is its amazing mobility thanks to a compact, lightweight camera system, including the lenses. Super telephoto zoom lens with a focal length of 1600mm* in combination with the optional 2x teleconverter

The M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS has a field of view equivalent to a 200-800mm lens in 35mm format, up to 1,120mm* with the M.Zuiko Digital 1.4x Teleconverter MC-14 and up to 1600mm* with the 2x Teleconverter MC-20. This performance makes it possible to zoom in close on subjects that are difficult to approach, delivering flattening effects for shooting which is unique to such a super-telephoto lens. The closest focusing distance across the entire zoom range is 1.3m and the maximum image magnification is 0.57x* providing superb telemacro performance when photographing small subjects such as insects and flowers. Focus Stacking*** is also supported. This feature captures multiple shots at different focal positions and automatically composites a single photo with a large depth of field that is in focus from the foreground to the background.

Exceptional imaging performance across the entire zoom range and reliable dustproof and splashproof body

The optical system features a combination of four Extra-low Dispersion (ED) lenses for suppressing colour bleeding, two Super High Refractive Index (Super HR) lenses, and two HR (High Refractive Index) lenses for bright, clear imaging performance up to the edges of the image across the entire zoom range. The ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) Coating reduces ghosts and flares even in poor conditions such as backlit scenes. Also, extensive hermetic sealing on the entire lens barrel provides the same high level of dustproof, splashproof and freezeproof performance as the M.Zuiko PRO series for peace of mind when shooting in any environmental conditions.

Focus limiter and in-lens image stabilization

The rear focus system of the M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS drives the lightweight focusing lenses for fast, high-precision AF performance. This lens is also equipped with a Focus Clutch and a Focus Limiter. It allows switching the AF operating range between three levels according to the focusing distance for quick focusing and comfortable shooting even in the super-telephoto range. Also, the in-lens image stabilization featuring up to 3 shutter speed steps of compensation**** enables handheld super-telephoto shooting.

Available Accessories

The M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS joins an extensive line-up of M.Zuiko lenses and is compatible with any OM-D or Olympus PEN camera as well as all third party cameras conforming to the Micro Four Thirds System standard.
