An Olympus Tough camera that has been at the bottom of the sea for three months still had a functioning memory card inside.
The Tough was lost by a honeymooning Finnish couple in the Maldives, whilst they were diving. It was found again by a German diver who came across the camera on the sea bed.
The camera only has a few hints of rust despite it being in the Indian Ocean for three months, and 500 holiday snaps were able to be extracted from the memory card.
German diver Mario N knew from the date on the photos when the couple were there and that they could be Finnish from evidence in the photos. He created a Facebook post that got shared more then 20,000 times in one day to try and find the couple. The owners of the camera were eventually found after members of the Hanko Diving School in Finland recognised the couple.
