A new Oppo smartphone is rumoured to arrive tomorrow and it brings a 10x optical zoom along with it.

Last year, Oppo showed us smartphone technology that they said would bring 5x optical zoom to devices. Unfortunately, it never materialised but the company has sent out invites to an event (happening tomorrow) that could see a smartphone with a 10x optical zoom instead.
Chinese Tech site My Drivers are the guys who have shared their invite online and when you translate it, the words say '10x the view'. The invite doesn't reveal much else apart from the event date and some fancy graphics.
If a smartphone with a 10x optical zoom is revealed, it could grab the attention of smartphone photographers as up until now, the maximum optical zoom we've seen in most smartphones is 2 or 3x. There are smartphones with much longer digital zoom reach but the quality of digital zoom is rather poor with a loss of detail and noise spoiling shots. Optical zoom, on the other hand, preserves detail so images captured with the longer end of the zoom have a higher level of quality.
Space is also limited in smartphones so if the rumours are true, it'll be interesting to see how Oppo squeeze a 10x optical zoom in and if the device on show will be anything more than a prototype.
