Does the Panasonic 12-60mm fill a niche in the Micro Four Thirds lens system or is it a compromise too far? David Thorpe finds out.
| Interchangeable Lenses
The Panasonic 12-60mm f/2.8-f/4 zoom lens is part of a new line-up of Leica DG optics, designed for the Micro Four Thirds (MFT) format.
It's an extremely versatile standard zoom range and when we put it to the test, we found it performed well and handling was also very good but does David Thorpe agree?
David begins his review by comparing the 12-60mm with various other lenses before moving on to describe it as a 'handsome beast that fits the company's house style.' The built-in OIS is praised as too is the weight and general handling of it. Plus, David also likes how smooth the focus and focal rings are.
The main thing you want a lens to be is sharp and David says the 12-60mm from Panasonic didn't let him down. Plus, David says purple fringing and flare are also kept to a minimum and the quality of out of focus areas is rather pleasing, too.
Overall, David enjoyed using the lens and by the end of the review, he does figure out where this zoom lens sits in the MFT lens line-up so do watch the review in its entirety to get David's full thoughts on the optic.
