We have a look at the Panasonic Lumix G7 and compare it to the previous version, the G6.
| Panasonic Lumix G7 in Mirrorless CamerasThe Panasonic Lumix G7 is the latest DSLR-style CSC from Panasonic, and features a 16 megapixel sensor, 4K video recording, plus a number of improvements over the Panasonic Lumix G6 that it replaces. Here's a quick run-down of the major differences between these two models.
The G7 features an improved 2.36m dot OLED electronic viewfinder, vs the 1.44m dot OLED EVF on the G6, both are 0.7x magnification. The G7 also benefits from a slightly larger rubber eyecup surround, which should make it more comfortable to use. Both cameras feature a 3inch vari-angle touch-screen, although the G7 now features a 1040k dot resolution, compared to 1036k dot resolution on the G6.
The G7 is larger with a deeper grip and a body that measures 124.9 x 86.2 x 77.4mm, compared to 122.45 x 84.6 x 71.4mm for the G6. The G7 weighs 360g, compared to 340g for the G6 body only without the memory card and battery.
The G7 has a battery life rating of 360 shots (with the 14-42mm lens) compared to 350 shots on the G6 (with the 14-42mm lens), although the number of shots will depend on how you shoot, with the 4K photo mode on the G7 giving you the ability to take 8mp images at 30fps.
The G7 has an extended ISO range of ISO100 to ISO25600, compared to ISO160 to ISO25600 on the G6. AF focusing has been improved in low light, with the camera capable of focusing in low-light down to -4EV on the G7, and the G6 capable of focusing in low light down to -3EV. Continuous shooting is now at 8fps (for 13 raw images, and 100+ jpeg images), or 6fps with AFC, compared to 7fps on the G6.
Video recording on the G7 is now at 4K resolution, and the camera also lets you take individual 8 megapixel frames from the video, letting you shoot at 30fps. The G6 records fullHD video. The G7 has two control wheels compared to only one on the G6. The G7 has added additional external controls, including a drive mode dial, plus an AF mode switch.

G6 is amazing camera, good for stills too
The battery is the same on both cameras.
Also, aside from 4K video, are there any upgrades on the speeds, codecs, etc. on the G7 video specs over the G6?
Thanks.
We will be covering the G7 video specs in the full review which is underway, but to very quickly answer your question, the video codec options are the same, except there are now more options and settings for mic adjustment, mic level limiter, diffraction compensation, luminance level settings, highlight shadow settings, as well as snap movie.
thanks Josh
