So there is basically no difference than 4K. I have G6 and see no reason to upgrade Tongue

G6 is amazing camera, good for stills too Grin

What's the build quality like? One of the caveats I had with the G6 [compared perhaps unfairly with the GH3, but also the GX models] is that it felt like a flimsy/plasticky camera. I'm attracted by the 4k capability [and I don't need the high end output of the GH4], is this a worthwhile alternative? [The other bugbear with just about every other m43 camera but the GH3/4 is battery life, but carrying spares is no big deal - I just wished they'd used the larger/higher capacity units. Are these the same as the ones in the G6?]

The G7 has a plastic body, and there didn't appear to be a massive or instantly noticeable difference in build quality between the two, however the grip did seem better, and the design does look a little more serious. The silver / grey version of the G7 looked more plasticy in my opinion. The viewfinder surround on the G7 also appeared to be more robust compared to the G6.

The battery is the same on both cameras.

Cheers Joshwa - I gues these things are slightly subjective. I think I will wait until they appear on the shelves and hold one for myself. Nice to hear spares for the G6 will work with it.

In the text it states the G7 weighs 360g, but in the spec list it says 410g - quite a difference. Which is correct?
Also, aside from 4K video, are there any upgrades on the speeds, codecs, etc. on the G7 video specs over the G6?
Thanks.

Hi spdavies, the 360g (G7) 340g (G6) weights are both body only, without the battery and memory card, for comparison. The 410g is the weight of the G7 with battery and memory card, which is the way most weights are now being reported according to CIPA standards.

We will be covering the G7 video specs in the full review which is underway, but to very quickly answer your question, the video codec options are the same, except there are now more options and settings for mic adjustment, mic level limiter, diffraction compensation, luminance level settings, highlight shadow settings, as well as snap movie.

thanks Josh

There is something incorrect. Afaik the G6 has WIFI ... or am I wrong?
28 Aug 2017 1:45AM
You are not wrong, the chart is wrong. The G6 has both WiFi and NFC.
