The latest flagship model of the Lumix mirrorless camera series, the Panasonic Lumix GH6, has been announced.
| Mirrorless CamerasThe 22nd of February 2022 sees the announcement of Panasonic's new Micro Four Thirds format camera - the Panasonic GH6. Aimed directly at videographers, but of course suitable for stills photography as well, the Panasonic Lumix GH6 will be available in mid-March at a cost of £1999 (body only) and £2199 (with 12-60mm lens).
The video capabilities of the Panasonic GH6 are led by unlimited recording time, of necessity coupled with a close attention to thermal management. This is aided by separate cooling feeds to different components, a heat sink, plus the use of the new CFExpress Type B cards. These give a higher bit rate, the capacity for longer recording time and, being larger than SD cards, better dissipation of heat. There is also an SD card slot, compatible with UHS-II U3 cards.
The basics features of the Panasonic Lumix GH6 include:

The capabilities of the GH6 are heavily geared towards the videographer, with no better example than ambassador Sebastian Linda. His work is currently illustrated by bold, uninhibited landscapes full of movement, taking full advantage of the moisture resistance of the camera to shoot on beaches, in and out of waterfalls; basically using a freedom of expression that is similar to the freedom of using a smartphone. The result is unfettered broadcast quality videography. Sebastian's work can be checked out on Instagram @seblinda.

I am only interested in still photography, so this is not really the camera for me, and I wonder how many dedicated video-centric photographers cling to an "SLR-derived" form factor in preference to something designed from the outset as a video camera. (Yes I realise there is a new breed of "hybrid-photographers to whom this will appeal).
