Panasonic Lumix LX100 (11)

The Panasonic Lumix LX100 is Panasonic's premium serious compact camera, and features a Micro Four Thirds sensor, a bright 24-70mm f/1.7-2.8 lens, a 3inch screen, and an electronic viewfinder. It was recently awarded an "Editor's Choice" award in ePHOTOzine's review. The Panasonic Lumix LX100 is available for £539.

Reviewer David Thorpe says that the LX100's compact size makes it an appealing camera for those that want Micro Four Thirds image quality in a compact camera, and says that the provided compact flash is a nice addition, as well as 4K video. David likes the manual controls available on the camera, saying it makes it easy to see what's going on with the camera settings. Negatives found by David Thorpe include the lack of a touch-screen, which is common on other Panasonic cameras.

I've had one of these for a year, picked up used from Amazon, so I'm surprised at how late this review is.
Having said that I agree with everything David Thorpe says in his review - this is an absolute belter of a compact. I thought the LX5 was good but this blows it away because it has the bigger sensor and a viewfinder.
I've taken some good shots with mine and will shortly add some to my PF here on ePz.
I thoroughly recommend the LX100.

Hi Seahawk, our original LX100 review was published October last year:

Sorry I must have missed that review, I must be getting old.

Liked this very well presented video review and watched it twice. Hope we can have this type of review more often. I'm "an habitual compact camera user" at heart but had come to the conclusion that I needed a larger image sensor and went and invested in a MFT/CSC outfit just a few months before the LX100 came on the market. Ironically, sensor size and crop-ability apart, I was getting first class image quality from my serious compact and it was a heck of a lot easier to carry around. The lens on the LX100 is probably much better than your average MFT kit lens.
