The tripod, redesigned

The Travel Tripod features an ovular leg design, and triangular central column, allowing for a slim tripod with no protrusions when folded down. There are 5 leg sections, all of which can be opened with one hand thanks to the design, allowing for quick setup and pack away of the tripod.

Peak say they've spent 4 years redesigning the tripod from the ground up to eliminate dead space and minimise packed down size.

The tripod is only 39.4cm long when packed down and can be deployed to a maximum height of 152.4cm. The ball head has been made as compact as possible, and features one large grip around the middle to control all head movements. There's a locking ring to stop any movement too, and a quick release button to easily remove the camera when you're finished.

Capable of holding just over 9kg in weight, it can be deployed in inverted and low modes for versatility. A standard camera mount, phone mount and hex key are included, as well as a soft case.

Pricing and availability

The tripod has an MSRP of $349, and will be available in aluminium or carbon fibre. The Kickstarter project for the tripod is running until 19 July, when we should hear more about release dates.
