Mark 1 was competing with the Nikon 800 series. They’ve lost that momentum now.

I look forward to seeing some independent sample photos. I am almost 100% sure I will make use of their upgrade plan for K1 Mrk 1 owners

What market are any of the Pentax K1's going after?

Because that limited name on some of the Pentax lenses could almost indicate exactly how limited the Pentax branded full frame lens selection is. When a majority of people elect to purchase a full frame camera; they tend to prefer a camera that has more than fourteen Pentax branded full frame lenses that are currently on the market

I don't understand the need for so many lenses. I have seven (which seems excessive)... of which I use two almost daily.
I can't get rid of my macro lens, although I've last used it two years ago.
My nifty-fifty is a must, yet I haven't used it in almost three years.

I keep hearing the mantra of "not enough lenses", but no one can ever explain what they could possibly do with so many. They just feel it "would be limiting" somehow. It would be interesting to heard someone able to express how and why it it limiting.

Admittedly, Pentax is limited in the professional level long range zooms (400mm+) which is annoying, when you need to hunt eBay for years to get a good one. But the rest of the range seems adequately covered.

The sad part is; it's not just the Pentax labeled full frame lenses. Even Sigma isn't releasing many of it's lenses in PK anymore.

Take a look at the lens lineup between Pentax compared to Nikon, Canon, and Sony - or even adding in Sigma. Even worse; compare intermediate to professional line lighting options. I have yet to find one single Pentax labeled flash that lasts more than fourteen months - even for the Pentax flagship flash. What about third party flash? Difficult to find Metz 76 for Pentax, and zero from companies such as Quantum.

It concerning how far Pentax/Ricoh has fallen; especially for a full frame offering. Naturally it has always been behind both Nikon and Canon; but now even far behind Sony.

Want selection and a choice that won't limit ones future options of expanding - don't choose Pentax.

Items Pentax just doesn't offer - and probably never will offer a new variation of: Zeiss for PK, 200mm f2.o, 105mm f1.4, 24mm f1.4, 58mm f1.4... Plus Pentax macro is quite disappointing in the field
