Landing gear down
A superb shot of a puffin coming in to land has won this week's Photo of the Week award on ePHOTOzine.

Editorial Director, Peter Bargh, hand-picked the shot, taken by site member Geoffrey Baker and titled 'Landing gear down', describing it as having 'all the ingredients for a first class nature photo.'

Peter says: "The 1/500sec shutter speed is fast enough to freeze the body, feet and face so we can look at the detail, but the flapping wings have motion blur giving a good sense of movement.

The bird is positioned coming in to centre of the frame and on the left third to provide a balanced and pleasing composition. The background is out of focus far enough to provide a neutral canvas for the bird while allowing a subtle hint of environment."

Photo of the Week winners currently receive a £100 voucher from Pixum online photo printing and all images that win the accolade are displayed in the Photo of the Week Gallery.
