Phottix Soft Flash Diffuser Review

This is the Phottix Soft Flash Diffuser, designed to fit over any flash thanks to an elastic band fitting on the back. The flash diffuser is designed to soften the brightness of a flash for more pleasing portrait or group photos.

Phottix Soft Flash Diffuser Features

Designed to diffuse your flash, the elasticated band attaches to your existing flash the white material then diffuses the flash to create a softer and less harsh light source. Inside is a reflective foil like material designed to direct the flash towards your subject.

Stretch the band out and place it over the flash, you could then leave it on your flash as it takes up very little extra space. Initial fitting can seem a little tricky due to the strength of the elastic, however this is quite reassuring to know that it shouldn't fall off once on. We tested the diffuser with the Olympus FL-50R Flash.

The results from the Phottix Soft Flash Diffuser are excellent, particularly noticeable with close subjects and still life, or for portraits with the subject clearly looking less harsly lit. The flash diffuser makes portrait photos look more pleasing, and can noticeably tone down harsh reflections whether on still subject or in portrait use.
