Rumours first appeared on PhotoRumors, have now been confirmed by Polaroid's CEO on Imaging-Resource. So far the details are a little limited, with the camera lens mount unknown, although the design and style look similar to the Nikon 1 J1 / J2 cameras. Expected features include:
  • 18.1 megapixel sensor (size unknown)
  • 3.5inch touch screen
  • Top mode dial
  • Android 4
  • Wi-Fi, HDMI
  • Pop-up flash
  • 10-30mm kit lens
With a 10-30mm kit lens, it is assumed that the sensor size will match the Nikon 1 series at 1 inch, giving a 2.7x crop factor and an equivalent zoom range of 27-83mm in 35mm terms. Polaroid announced the Polaroid SC1630 Android powered compact camera at CES 2012, although whether it actually made it to market is unknown.
