We like how the bag has poppers to secure inserts, and is really versatile, including a small accessory storer that can be removed. Fogg b-laika

Fogg Laica

Fogg's bags are made to order in France. Compact and heavily padded, they are ideal for a variety of mirrorless camera setups though it was originally designed for the M Leica. Thanks to Flaghead Photographic for providing us the bag for review. The bag is available for £374.99.

There are 3 movable dividers and it will comfortably hold a mirrorless camera with lens attached and up to 2 spare lenses, with room for some small accessories.

Fogg inside

There's a front zipped compartment, velcro flap pocket and open pocket on the front, as well as a poppered shut compartment on the back. It's available in different colour schemes and each bag is signed by the maker and has its own unique serial number. Here we have a navy and brown leather-trimmed bag.

It has leather accents and a padded shoulder strap. It has a nice finish inside and out, and the closing/ opening system for the main compartment is quick and effective.

Fogg worn

We like the neutral innards and the amount of extra pockets the bag has considering its size. The shoulder strap is nicely padded and is suede underneath, for added grip.

There is room for a professional DSLR, extra lens and personal accessories in the main compartment. The bag has an included waterproof cover along with a zippered outer pocket and two magnetic closure pockets on the front.

Ona Prince Street Messenger

ONA Prince Street messenger

The Ona Prince Street Tan messenger is made from water-resistant waxed canvas and has full grain leather details with secure antique brass closure. It's available for £225. Thanks to Harrison Cameras for supplying the bag.

ONA

The bag can hold a DSLR with attached lens and up to 2 lenses along with an 11-inch laptop or tablet and accessories. It's surprisingly heavy, and features a fully foam padded interior, which is a nice touch. There are 3 adjustable and removable dividers. There is a chunky leather handle on top of the bag and a leather topped shoulder strap with fabric grip.

There are two front pockets for accessories and a magnetic closure pocket on the back.

ONA

The colour of the canvas is nice and it feels really robust and well made. It seems to scratch and mark easily which adds to the weathered look. It fits to the body well and the brass clips make it easy to access and fasten the bag quickly. We like how the whole bag is padded for extra protection.

Wotancraft Ranger

Wotancraft ranger

The Wotancraft Ranger is a vintage grey and leather (both cow and sheep leather) bag, made in Taiwan. It's available for $549 and has the capacity to hold up to 2 pro DSLRs or a DSLR and spare lens. There is the ability to strap a tripod to the bottom and Wotancraft says it's ideal for wedding photographers.

Wotancraft inside

There is a top leather flap that is secured with buckles and then underneath that there is a zipped flap that gives access to your kit. As well as the main compartment there is a large zipped front compartment, two popper closure front pockets and two popper closure side pockets.

There is a leather handle on the back for carrying the bag and a padded adjustable shoulder strap. We like how the fastening straps sit on top of the bag, letting you use them to slide a jumper or coat under.

Wotancraft

The bag is definitely one of the largest we have on test here. There is a lot going on, including two leather straps enabling you to constrict the width of the bag if it's not needed. It's very 'Indiana Jones'. The zips are nice and smooth and the removable camera insert is a nice touch.  We like the rough and ready look of the leather, the creases and pores give it real character.

Pompidoo Amsterdam

Pompidoo front

The Pompidoo Amsterdam is a bag designed primarily for male photographers, but can be used by men and women alike. Starting out as a manufacturer of camera bags for women that look like handbags, Pompidoo has branched out to create a luxury bag that's convenient for men too. It's available for £418.88.

The Amsterdam is unique in its uprightness, being a 'portrait' rather than a 'landscape' bag. It can fit 1-2 DSLRs with 2-3 lenses or accessories as well as a tablet or small laptop and there's room for a phone, wallet and other personal items.

Pompidoo inside

Available in aged  brown or black, the bag is made from bovine Italian leather and manufactured in Latvia. There are Nickel clips and accents. There is a strap on the back allowing you to place it over the handle of a rolling case and an adjustable padded shoulder strap. Both of these have a fetching striped blue pattern to the fabric, adding detail but still keeping it more masculine.

Pompidoo

The front pocket can be unclipped and expanded with 2 zips for bulkier items. There is also a zipped pocket on the back. The leather is nice and supple and the removable dividers are soft and really well padded. We love the style and uniqueness of this bag. The innards are nicely padded with a soft fabric and the strap allowing you to attach it to the handle of a rolling suitcase is ideal for travel.

Gillis Trafalgar Satchel

Gillis front

The Gillis Trafalgar satchel is made from Buffalo hide which is REACH accredited, which means no unnecessary dangerous chemicals were used in the leather making process. It has a different smell to bovine leather bags, it's more subtle but fresh. The bag has a really lovely soft feel. It's available for £250 from Cameraworld.

The main compartment has a removable camera tray, and the movable dividers for your kit have been deliberately slimmed down to maximise space, which has gone down well with users. Photographers told Gillis that as long as lenses and cameras aren't rubbing together directly, the dividers being padded isn't a big issue, allowing them to make things altogether more stylish and slim.

Gillis inside

There are 2 front pockets for smaller accessories and a magnetic closure full-width pocket at the back. Under the main flap there is a zip, which gives access to the main compartment. There are storm flaps to stop water or dust getting in around the edges of the zip. On the walls of the main compartment there is a laptop pocket and two smaller pockets.

Gillis worn

The lining is 100% cotton and the lining for the camera kit tray is 100% polyester parachute. The metalwork is dark antique, especially made for the brand. YKK number 10 zips are used, which Gillis say are strong and reliable.

We simply love this bag. It has a texture that's just not found with cow leather products and by removing the camera tray, you can easily use the bag as a satchel for around town. It's inconspicuous and doesn't look like a camera bag.

Mooli The Hampton

Mooli handbag

The Hampton is definitely a bag for the woman photographer that wants to ooze style and sophistication while still carrying all her camera gear. The bag can hold a DSLR plus 2-3 extra lenses or accessories. Removable dividers allow you to use the bag as a normal handbag too. It's also capable of fitting a 13-inch laptop. The Hampton is available for £120.

Mooli handbag

There is an adjustable shoulder strap which can be removed should you wish to wear the bag on your arm instead.

It's well made and a bit like a TARDIS, fitting in a lot more than you'd think it could. It has a super soft mercerised cotton lining and metal studs on the bottom to protect from wear.

Mooli handbag worn

We like that the bag looks like a designer handbag and so will be super inconspicuous when out and about. There are also front and back pockets for smaller accessories as well as an interior zipped pocket.

Peak Design Everyday Messenger 13

Peak design

The Peak Design Everyday Messenger is marketed as a 'giant leap for bag-kind', and has a whole host of innovative features. Here, we got hands-on with the 13-inch version, which is designed for mirrorless cameras and small DSLRs with lens attached and up to 3 other lenses, a whole host of smaller accessories and also the option to carry a tripod. It's available in the UK through 3 Legged Thing for £229.99

Peak design inside

The bag is geometrically designed, and the thinner than usual yet still padded dividers have set folding lines, enabling you to alter the fit of the dividers and store two lenses on top of each other for example, without them rubbing.

There is a front zipper pocket for your smaller accessories and a separate pocket for your laptop. The main compartment flap has a magnetic closure latch, with a few different closure braces depending on how full your bag is. The bag is expandable and the sides will adjust to load size.

peak design wornThe strap is easily adjustable and the bag can be worn in 3 different ways - as a shoulder bag, messenger bag or high messenger bag, handy if you're cycling. If you want extra security or you're carrying a heavy load, extra straps can be attached to the bag to help spread the load.

We love the geometric design of the bag and the versatility of the folding dividers. It's made from rugged 500D waxed Kodra fabric that has a weatherproof DWR coating, which feels reassuringly rugged and well made.

Team's Favourites

Emma

Emma's favourite bag is the Barbershop Undercut Borsa

'It has a quirky inner lining which I love and a really quality look and feel on the outside. It also smells amazing thanks to the real leather! The suede lining of the camera insert is really soft and I love how you can turn the bag into a rucksack when travelling. It's also handy that the camera insert can be fully removed so you can use the bag as a normal everyday satchel.'

Nik

Nik's favourite bag is the Gillis Trafalgar Satchel.

'The Gillis satchel is beautifully designed and built in a way that makes you incredibly confident in its protective abilities. It smells amazing, like walking into an expensive leather accessory shop, and it's great that the camera kit compartment can be removed so it turns into an every day, stylish satchel.'

Josh

Josh's favourite bag is the Peak Design Everyday 13

'The Peak Design bag is neatly designed with quick access at the top with a zipped entry system and a tough metal clip lets you open the bag when you need full access. It's perfectly suited to a Mirrorless camera system and for someone who wants to travel light. It's also great that it's compatible with Peak Design's strap system.'

David

David's favourite bag is the Gillis Trafalgar satchel.

'I like the rugged, worn look of the bag, and the buffalo hide gives it a unique smell and feel that's different from other bovine leather bags. I'm from Texas, so I know my leather! It's great because it's large enough for personal accessories for the day as well as camera kit and the slimline dividers really help you maximise the space available.'

Rick

Rick's favourite bag is the ONA Prince Street Messenger.

'I like the fact that this bag marks easily, as it adds character and uniqueness. The back of the bag hugs the body well and this makes it discreet. It's quite small but ideal for a small DSLR on a day out. If you don't want a huge bag, this is a great option.'
