An image of a puffin peering over a grassy ridge has been awarded the Photo of the Week accolade this week.
The image, taken by ePz member BydoR9, is titled 'Puffin Impressions' and here's why the team at ePz chose it:
This image stood out to us as a different take on a puffin image - usually, they are captured flying into land or with lots of fish in their beaks, so it's refreshing to see one with a more artistic composition.
The muted browns and beiges of the parched landscape help to highlight the bird's orange accents on the beak and around the eye. Rule of thirds has been used well to give the bird plenty of breathing space and the blurred grasses in the foreground give the feeling of camouflage. Finally, the glow of sunlight landing on the grasses in focus to the left add some texture and finish the image off nicely.
Photo of the Week winners currently receive a 32GB EVO MicroSD card with SD adapter courtesy of Samsung. See all the winning images in the POTW gallery.
