Dave Watson at Milton Of Buchanan Primary School
During the weekend of 18th/19th November this year the peace and quiet of Rowardennan by Loch Lomond was shattered by the noises of camera shutters firing off numerously. Flashes illuminated the normally black skies as 40 EPZr`s gathered at Rowardennan Youth Hostel for a Scottish weekend meet. The weather was not its kindest to us but it stayed dry so we were able to get out and about and explore the wonderful countryside around here.
One of the more social events just prior to us all descending to the local hotel for refreshments and a meal was a raffle. Prizes had been kindly donated from members attending as well as a few goodies from the offices of ePHOTOzine via Pete. Tickets were priced at 5.00 each and the prizes bundled into bigger parcels. The grand sum of 200.00 was raised and it had been previously agreed to use these funds to buy a digital camera for the pupils of Milton Of Buchanan Primary School. This is the local school and boasts a pupil population of just 17 pupils at the moment. Big Bri a member of EPZ kindly offered to source a camera through his work and miraculously produced a top of the range Fuji F10 + 2 additional xd cards.
On 22nd December Dave met up with with Sue Rand the headteacher to handover the camera in person.
"I truly thank all the kind members who generously helped with the purchase of the camera for the school. It will bring endless joy to the children as well providing image documentation for the schools various projects."
In attendance was a reporter from the Stirling Observer to cover it for the local paper.
Dave offers a huge thanks from himself to all those who were there for the weekend and for making it such a successful event, plans in place for next years already, and of course for the generosity shown in raising the funds for the camera for the school.
Dave Watson, far right, is seen here handing the camera over to one of the pupils with Sue Rand and Wilma and Megan joining in the fun.
