Getty Images has announced the successful applicant of its first ever female sport photographer internship.
Southampton photographer Naomi Baker is now based at Getty Images’ London office in Camden where she will work alongside, and learn from, Getty's sport photographers and editorial team, building the necessary skills to start a career in the sports imagery industry.
The internship, which lasts 12 months, will see Naomi learn all aspects of the sports photography business, shadowing the picture desk, assignments team and field editors as well honing her photography skills with professional Canon kit at high-profile sporting events such as the upcoming Challenge Cup final at Wembley.
Already an accomplished photographer, Baker has worked as Assistant Photographer to Southampton FC’s Club Photographer, as a photographer for AFC Bournemouth and as a contributor to Sport Magazine and British Rowing Magazine, among others.
Commenting on the opportunity, Naomi said: "What excites me the most about working for Getty Images is being able to learn from the best sport photographers in the world. I am also looking forward to developing new skills and gaining experience photographing a wide variety of sports."
The Getty Images Sport Photographer Internship was developed in partnership with Women’s Sport Trust, Cerno Capital and Canon, to encourage women to pursue a career in sports photography. Originally open as a single position, the internship was extended to accommodate two candidates following the high volume of global applications and as a result, Swedish photographer Linnea Rheborg will also be taking on a paid internship.
Linnea Rheborg has a degree in photojournalism from the Nordic School of Photography. As a freelance photographer, she regularly contributes to weekly business magazine Affärsvärldenand the Stockholm based Bildbyrån Photo Agency.
