A beautiful portrait of a red squirrel standing on a log has been awarded the POTW accolade this week.
| ePHOTOzineA portrait of a red squirrel in the forest has been awarded the POTW accolade this week.
The image, entitled 'Red Squirrel' was taken by ePHOTOzine member SteveMackay and here's why we thought it deserved to win the accolade:
This is a wonderful portrait of such a rare and beautiful animal. The pose that the squirrel has been captured in is charming, and the rule of thirds has been used well to give the squirrel plenty of breathing space.
The bright orange tones of the squirrel's fur contrast nicely with the punchy greens of the moss on the log and the grass in the foreground. Depth of field has been used well to create a smooth, blurred background. The squirrel's dark eye is fixed on the camera and the texture and colours of the tufts on the ears is really something.
Photos given the Photo of the Week accolade currently receive a 64GB MicroSD card with SD adapter courtesy of Samsung. See all the photos that have been awarded the accolade in the POTW Gallery.
