RPS International Print Exhibition Winners Announced

Three photographers from Italy have secured the top awards in The Royal Photographic Society’s International Print Exhibition – the world’s oldest and longest running photography exhibition.

The Gold Award went to Antonio Busiello, for 'The Cullatore'; the Silver Award to Mattia Vacca for 'S’Ardia – Introduction to family life in Barbagia' and the Under-30s Award to Michele Palazzi for 'Gone with the Dust'.

The selectors were commercial and fine art photographer Ray Spence FRPS; Sophie Batterbury, picture editor of The Independent on Sunday; Anthony Holland Parkin, director of editorial content at Getty Images; contemporary portrait photographer Kate Peters; and fine art photographer Bill Jackson.

1,285 photographers from 59 countries entered a total of 4,905 images and 115 were selected for the exhibition.  For the first time in its history the exhibition accepted digital entries alongside prints. All the entries were judged anonymously. This is the 156th Exhibition since it was started by The Society in 1854.

The exhibition opens at Shire Hall Gallery, Stafford on 20 July 2013 before moving on to venues around the country. See the RPS exhibition website for more details. All the selected images can also be seen on the website.
